A History… The Lilleker Bros. Story

Lilleker Bros was founded in 1919 as a local electrical business and had premises in Rotherham town centre dealing in the selling and servicing of electrical appliances. The business grew with work being undertaken for the Steel and Coal Mining industries and carried out the electrification of the Woodhead railway system. In 1935 the company was one of the first to become members of the Electrical Contracting Association and in 1957 it was one of the founder members of the newly formed National Inspection Council for the Electrical Industry. Lilleker Bros. is now an Electrical, Mechanical and Control Panel Manufacturer Company and since 1919 the company has grown to operate nationally and internationally in the steel, food and quarry industries and commercially in the local government ,hospital, university and private development sectors. Lilleker Bros. Ltd clients and projects vary from a heavy industrial project at Drax power station which involved the supply and installation of almost 100km of control and instrumentation cables, to a hospital ward refurbishment for Kier, keeping focus on client satisfaction and quality of work at all times. Key areas of expertise are; Food Industry including clients such as Greencore Foods, 2 Sisters Group, Fox’s Biscuits, Fletchers Bakery, Cargill Chocolate, Hovis, Palethorpe Foods and Napier Brown; Local Authority including Rotherham MBC, Sheffield City Council, Local Health Authority and South Yorkshire Police along with our major client Kier; Heavy Industry and Quarries including power stations and steel works; Commercial Sector including Student Accommodation, Children’s Care Homes and Warehouse Facilities. During 2014/2015 the company was awarded OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety certification, and was subsequently awarded ISO 45001 in 2021. All site based personnel are JIB registered and hold CSCS/ECS cards and the company continues to invest in updating all employees in Skills and Health and Safety training.
